The goals of our work are to preserve the Golden Gate National Parks, enhance the experiences of park visitors, and build a community dedicated to conserving the parks for the future.

OUR WORK HIGHLIGHTS

Trails Forever
The Trails Forever initiative, launched in 2003, is renovating and expanding park trails to build a world-class trail system and protect park resources north and south of the Golden Gate.

Trails Forever has launched a number of exciting trail and conservation projects throughout the Golden Gate National Parks. Come volunteer in your own backyard!

Native Plant Nurseries
We have five nurseries in the park and each year we collect more than one million seeds, propagate over 400 of the 622 species native to the park, and grow 90,000 to 140,000 plants for up to 50 different habitat restoration projects throughout the 75,000 acres of the park.

All that we do in the nurseries is dependent on the assistance of the park's most valuable user group, our volunteers. We invite you to come out and participate in a little productive recreation, which will help restore the earth and your own spirit.

The Park Stewardship Program
The Park Stewardship Program works to restore endangered species habitat at restoration sites in the Golden Gate National Parks with the support of local volunteers and education groups.

The Park Stewardship Program offers drop-in volunteer workdays every Saturday, open to all with no prior experience or notice necessary.

Golden Gate Raptor Observatory (GGRO)
The GGRO is three staff members and more than 250 community volunteers, all dedicated to studying the autumn hawk migration. The GGRO's guiding philosophy is that public involvement is a critical, yet often ignored, component of long-term wildlife conservation.
